Happy New Year! I’ve been neglecting this newsletter and have committed to updating you all more regularly in 2025.
This New Year’s Eve was perhaps the chillest on record. I stayed in, with my sister and husband. I watched several episodes on David Attenbourough’s new series “Asia” , stayed on that theme and cooked a red thai curry and summer rolls for dinner and woke Craig up at midnight for a kiss and a move from the couch to the bed.
Art + Culture
Winter Art Camp
I’m so delighted to be joining my friend
again at her virtual Winter Art Camp this January. It’s not too late to join. Winter Art Camp was really impactful for me last year. I played the piano every day, journaled most days and said yes to creating and no to scrolling (for the most part.)It’s a private community where we each have our own virtual “studio” to post our progress or ask for help. This year I’m committing to learning ProCreate on my new iPad. I’ll let you know how I get on.
Learn more about camps and sign up here.
You can use the code WINTER100 for $100 off and there’s a pay-what-you-can link, too.
Mindful Movement
Travel to Lanzarote
Disabled travel is never easy. There are lots of contingencies to plan for. Not every place is actually as accessible as it says and having a dynamic disability means that all plans are tentative. I traveled to @visit.lanzarote with @monegocraigo and @earthwaterandmarah with the help of my blue mobility scooter that we named Constance or “Conni”. The stark landscape and whitewashed towns are unique in the Canary Islands. Our hotel did a great job catering to my dietary requirements and our room was big enough to easily charge Conni and still move around. We did some accessible scuba diving and had a lovely relaxing afternoon at the spa. Asking for help has never been my strong suit but I will say that the airport assistance workers are incredible people making travel a little easier for people with access needs

More Virtual Meditation
Awakening Together
The Gaia House retreat center in Devon, UK is offering daily 30 minute virtual morning meditations Jan. 1 - March 31 over Zoom.
The Awakening Together community meets each day for 30 minutes of silent meditation, offering the chance to cultivate the habit of daily meditation with the unspoken support of others. The mornings are offered freely, and you are warmly invited to offer dana to Gaia House when you register.
I’m really excited to deepen my own meditation practice and start my days in silence. I wanted to invite you to join me if it appeals (and works with your time zone.) My goal is to join on weekdays for the first quarter and hopefully carry on the habit once the formal community disbands.
I’ll be attending the Unequalled Radiance retreat in person at Gaia House in June, which I’m excited about as I’ve never been but keep hearing good things. I’ve been impressed with their accessibility coordinator’s ability to answer all my questions and meet my access and dietary needs. I can’t wait to update you on the retreat when I’ve been.
Thanks for sharing Winter Art Camp! So thrilled to be in that space again with you. And look forward to reading more of your newsletters in 2025!
